Hormone Clinic

We treat a number of hormonal concerns here at Rejuvenate Clinic:

Andropause, also known as the “male menopause”, occurs as hormone levels (testosterone in particular) decline with age. This is a very natural process that affects men from the age of 30 years old. Some men can become symptomatic if their testosterone levels fall below a critical level – which differs for each man.

Common symptoms of andropause include:

  • Tiredness, fatigue, or “burnout syndrome’ (decreased drive and ambition)
  • Decreased strength and lean body mass
  • Irritability
  • Poor sleep patterns
  • Diminished libido
  • Memory loss
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Decreased morning erections and decreased erection strength
  • Depression

Bioidentical hormones have the same chemical structure as the naturally occurring hormones in our bodies. Derived from diosgenin, which is sourced from Mexican yams, they closely replicate the effects and benefits that our own hormones are produced for.

Menopause is the period of time when a woman’s fertility is coming to an end. This natural, and healthy process, again, will be different for everyone. However, in today’s busy climate there are a number of variants that can change the effect menopause has on your body; including stress, work, diet, family and other external factors.

Postmenopause is also part of the process; when a woman’s reproductive hormone levels continue to fluctuate. Some menopausal symptoms may stick around for years after, mostly including:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats
  • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
  • Changes in mood, such as feeling tired, irritable, depressed or anxious
  • Difficulty concentrating or poor memory
  • Urinary problems – such as recurrent urinary tract infections, loss of bladder control (urinary incontinence)
  • Joint aches and pains.
  • Changes to the vagina, such as thinning, dryness, discomfort, itching and pain during sex
  • Loss of interest in sex (loss of libido)

Vital hormones that fluctuate throughout each phase of menopause include estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. These hormones are important for bone, vaginal & urethral health, skin health, brain function and cardiovascular health. This is where we can work with you to balance and replenish these hormones to help you maintain your health, energy and overall mood.

At Rejuvenate Clinic we carry out a free consultation, and follow-up with appropriate testing upon signs of symptoms. This allows us to forecast a bespoke treatment plan specific to you, and your menopause – because no two are the same.

Perimenopause is the moment hormonal change symptoms begin to show, otherwise known as the menopausal transition phase. This occurs before the symptoms settle in, and menopause becomes evident through the fluctuation of reproductive hormones levels becoming more powerful.

When To Expect This Change

Women can experience symptoms of perimenopause from 35 years old, with the severity and length of time differing from woman to woman.

Common symptoms of perimenopause include:

  • Irregular periods
  • Periods that are heavier or lighter than usual
  • PMS
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings
  • Insomnia
  • Anger and irritability
  • Anxiety
  • Heart palpitations
  • Memory loss
  • Hot flushes
  • Night Sweats
  • Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
  • Anaemia
  • Weight gain
  • Bloating
  • Fluid retention
  • Breast tenderness
  • Aches and painful joints
  • Frequent headaches
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Dry skin
  • Low libido

Premenstrual syndrome is the very common occurrence of the physical and emotional symptoms that show in the run-up to a woman’s period. PMS relates to the imbalance of progesterone and oestrogen.

Common symptoms of PMS include:

  • Mood swings
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Anger
  • Abdominal bloating and cramping
  • Breast tenderness
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Back pain
  • Food cravings
  • Cramping
  • Weight gain

Again, because everybody is different, every woman’s hormone related symptoms vary. With some being more severe than others, jobs and day-to-day living can become challenging. This is where we offer hormone therapy to treat the imbalance so you don’t need to suffer throughout your menstrual cycle.

Testosterone is the principal male sex hormone; also an anabolic steroid. Testosterone plays a very important part in a man’sl health and well-being, and supports the strength of muscles, bones and ligaments. Low levels of testosterone can result in fatigue, irritability, depression, aches & pains. If low levels of testosterone are apparent, this can be treated with Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

The benefits of testosterone include:

  • Boosts muscle mass and strength
  • Increases bone density
  • Improves memory
  • Increases libido
  • Increases self-confidence, motivation and energy

Here at Rejuvenate Clinic we see men who are suffering from symptoms associated with testosterone deficiency, but who are unaware it may be due to Andropause. With a free consultation and appropriate testing, we can propose a bespoke hormone replacement treatment plan specific to you.
